Body Contouring Q & A

What is body contouring?

Body contouring, also called body sculpting, is a noninvasive treatment for getting rid of excess fat. It isn’t a treatment for weight loss, but you might shed a pound or two in the process. The procedure sculpts your body into a firmer, slimmer shape, and is ideal for patients with areas of fat that have resisted all other fat reducing efforts.

How does body contouring work?

One of the most popular methods of body contouring involves safe, high-powered radiofrequency technology. During the procedure, the handpiece emits energy that heats up and kills the fat cells in the targeted area. Over the next 12 weeks, your body reabsorbs the dead fat cells, resulting in a slimmer, more toned body.

Body contouring method uses radiofrequency waves to heat and kill your fat cells. It’s similar to the laser method, but also helps tighten and smooth your skin.

Which parts of my body can I target with body contouring?

You can target any part of your body with stubborn, unlosable fat. Patients frequently target the fat on their:

  • Stomach
  • Thighs
  • Sides
  • Arms
  • Back
  • Double chin

If there are other areas on your body that present a problem when it comes to weight loss, Dr. Ansari evaluates you and decides if body contouring can work for those areas.

Am I a good candidate for body contouring?

At your consultation, Dr. Ansari examines you and takes note of your medical history and goals with the treatment. You may be a candidate for body contouring if you:

  • Are in good health
  • Are at or near your ideal weight
  • Don’t have any open sores on your body
  • Have realistic fat reduction goals

Since everyone’s body is different, only a doctor can decide if body contouring is appropriate in your case. If you’re a good candidate, Dr. Ansari tells you how to best prepare for your procedure.

If you’re diligent about your healthy diet and exercise regimen but can’t seem to lose certain areas of fat, call Primary & Urgent Care today to discuss your body contouring treatment options.
